It is an art, science, philosophy and practice focusing on all aspects of health from prenatal to geriatric care. The emphasis is on prevention as well as self care. As a primary care provider, I focus both on prevention and on chronic issues and conundrums for which patients have not found help. Utilizing a holistic perspective, patterns can be identified and the interaction of all physiologic, mind and emotional issues can be addressed. Our goal is to understand how when one system is not working well, it causes problems in other areas of the body.
Prevention is an individualized approach to health and wellness. I support each person in removing obstacles in the way of their health and happiness goals. This may include education, identification and elimination of beliefs or inspiration to implement a healthy diet, engage in regular exercise, provide strategies and tools for stress reduction. Prevention includes wellness exams, pap smears, clinical breast exams, annual labs. When there is a genetic predisposition for a condition and you are going through a vulnerable period in your life, we focus on risk reduction.
Chronic Disease includes such conditions as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer. Smoking, obesity or being overweight, high blood pressure, sedentary lifestyle, stress, high blood sugar, a diet low in omega 3 fatty acids, high in trans fatty acids and alcohol use contribute to chronic disease. I support individuals in changing their lifestyle and taking charge of their health. These changes will be supplemented on an individual basis. Together we will work toward a decrease in medications and/or supplements, using food as medicine and a return to feeling well.
Primary Care Support for Individuals with Cancer
I support patients who have been diagnosed with cancer by helping them to understand their labs, imaging and tumor reports, support during conventional treatment and I help to rebuild the immune system following conventional care. Support during conventional treatment includes pre- and post-surgery supplements and homeopathy, emotional support, visualization to create positive outcomes and evidence based supplement and herbal support that will enhance chemotherapy and radiation. When conventional treatment is complete, we will work together to understand and heal the underlying cause of the cancer.
Colds, flu, urinary tract infections, vaginal infections, injuries, those unexpected issues that arise can be supported with natural and/or conventional approaches. I am available early in the day on an as needed basis to support you in healing from these acute issues.
